Airliner Postcards are one of the most popular and inexpensive Collectable items on the internet. The above is an American Airlines Lockheed L-188 Electra featuring AA's Astrojet look from the late 1950s and early to mid-1960s. This particular Electra was built in Burbank, California, at the former Lockheed Air Terminal (now Bob Hope International Airport), and is seen here off the California coast. American operated Electras out of a number of airports in the early 1960s, including Los Angeles International Airport, which was brand new at the time and receiving flights from many of the 1940s-1950s era propliners and the first jetliners of the 1960s. |
