Douglas DC-3

Flagship

(Pre-1939 Aircraft)

Though the aircraft in the picture is pre-1939 build, the post card is 1940s issue during WWII. The difference between an American Airlines DC-3 built in the pre-war period and one built thereafter is the passenger door is located on the right side of the aircraft;s aft cabin. That makes the aircraft an original DC-3 and not a C-47 conversion from post-war stocks.
